What an absolute gem of a game. It’s flashy, but not overdone. It’s got great bosses and characters that are both menacing and comical. The gameplay has a fantastic flow, and won’t be frustrating for new players. I am absolutely thrilled with Sky Racket, and want to play it over and over again. This is not only a great game in it’s own right, but it now has a place in my top 10 favorite shoot-em-ups of all time. It’s a must play, and I highly recommend it!

Sky Racket is something you can throw on and switch off for a while to enjoy, with a melodic score that serves to ease, action-packed gameplay that’s not too challenging, so much so that it’s incredibly accessible, that reels you in for an engaging time, along with a charming personality unmatched by many of its competitors. If you’re looking for a sparkly brand new retro experience for the Switch, you’ve found it.

I had a really good time playing Sky Racket, with its genre-mashing gameplay proving both fun and addictive throughout. The main campaign is a little bit on the short side, but with its multiplayer action and the tricky challenges each level offers, there’s plenty here to keep you blasting projectiles back at your enemies for some time.

Sky Racket is an excitingly fun love letter to retro gaming. Double Dash manages to marry two genres in such a way that makes it feel like they should’ve been together all along. The game suffers from an overall lack in content, but just about everything there is terrific. Now hitting the Switch, Sky Racket is a great addition to the eShop.

Sky Racket is great. I enjoyed the time I spent by myself and even more of the time that I spent with a friend to try out the solid multiplayer (we died a lot). I do very much recommend this game to anybody that likes brick breaker games and casual difficulty shoot ’em up games. It’s not too crazy, but it’ll put you through your paces to complete all of its challenges. This game is a good time!

Sky Racket is a real hidden gem. The combination of genres is seamless, the art style is great to look at and the soundtrack is incredible! If you’re looking for a real indie gem that unashamedly tries something new, then Sky Racket is a perfect choice.

Sky Racket is a game that combines the brick breaker genre with shoot em up core mechanics. I wanted to say a traditional shooter but it is most certainly not, for your ammo is the enemies and you use them by returning their projectiles. Blocks will sometimes give the enemy a barrier and especially in boss-like encounters. Overall it is a nice little distraction that builds a good genre but needs more variety and meat on the bone.

Rolling credits on Sky Racket left me feeling a little ambivalent. It’s a decidedly enjoyable experience from beginning to end, and it feels like an excellent co-op game if you have a partner to join you. That said, it’s definitely on the shorter side, and having more stages before the boss fights would have made getting to them more rewarding. The variety present here is great, but I can’t help but feel like this main course is leaving me a little hungry. If you don’t mind running through stages multiple times to achieve all of the objectives, or you’re looking for a fresh and compact co-op game, Sky Racket is certainly worth a look. The amount of content and the controls do leave something to be desired, though.

Sky Racket is a fun brick breaker and shoot ’em up mash-up with a great-looking art style, easy to understand gameplay mechanics, and 12 stages to beat. There’s some extra replay value thanks to the bonus objectives to complete, and twice the fun to be had thanks to its local co-op multiplayer. Sky Racket is out now on Nintendo Switch with a $14.99 price tag.

The most difficult part of reviewing Sky Racket is knowing which audience is going to be the most interested in the game. As mentioned before, while the boss fights are fun and full of stuff to dodge, the block sections of the game may be too slow-paced for the more dedicated shmup fans. With that being said, it is also possible that the people looking for a relaxing experience of Tennis and Break-Out might be taken off guard by the more demanding boss fights. Perhaps the safest conclusion, then, is that the game should appeal to an audience that has an overlapping interest in the diverse game-styles that Sky Racket skillfully mixes together.

Ultimately, in trying to combine shoot-em-ups and brick breakers, Sky Racket misses the point of both genres. Its reliance on enemies’ projectiles is a clever concept, but poorly implemented. And the level design and difficulty are so inconsistent, one can only wonder how much thought was put into the game after the core concepts were conceived.
