I feel like Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny is meant for a very, very specific target audience: you need to a) have been a big fan of Nicktoons about 15-20 years ago, b) have grown up and become a huge fan of Diablo and other similar ARPGs, and c) now have kids of your own that you’re trying to make into fans of both Diablo and Spongebob, TMNT, and other cartoons from that very specific point in time.

The upside of lightUP making essentially the same game over and over again is that they generally know what they’re doing, and their games generally work as they’re supposed to. If you just want another metroidvania, you’ll find that here. But you could also find it in most of their other games, which makes it hard to see why you’d pick this one specifically.

The more you play, the more it feels like Raccoo Venture misses the mark just enough to make it feel like a bit of a letdown. It’s a solid game, but with a few tweaks it could’ve been a lot more.

The neat thing about Dicefolk is the way it defies easy classification, even though it brings together a couple of really well-worn ideas.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing is still a decent racer overall. Much like the studio that inspired it, it’s not going to make you forget the genre’s king, but there’s fun to be found here if you give it a chance.

What makes Project Nightmares Case 36: Henrietta Kedward interesting is that it’s built around an interesting idea, except it sabotages itself by then allowing two of the dumb ideas – one of them possibly dumber than anything else I’ve ever seen – to take precedence over that interesting idea. It would be fascinating if it weren’t for the fact the end result is so mind-bogglingly awful.

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos is a confusing mess of a game that makes no effort to explain anything, ever. And seeing as the confusing bits relate to basic things like "Where am I going?" and "What am I supposed to do?", I feel like no amount of Zeno Clash would?ve made those things any more apparent.

I wouldn't say that Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway is a bad entry in the kart racing genre. It's far from the best, to be sure, but it's competent and content-filled enough that you'll at least feel like you're getting your money's worth.

No Place for Bravery is still a very solid game. Technical issues may mean that doesn't like up to the standards of the games it's trying to emulate, but even so, there's a lot of good stuff going on here, and if you can look past those issues (or even wait for some patches), there's definitely something here worth playing.

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout

I think you’d have to have an awful lot of love for G.I. Joe to get much enjoyment out of Operation Blackout, and even then, I can’t see this being a game that someone will pick up and play again and again. There is an option for local co-op and multiplayer, and there are a series of collectibles to gather in each stage with a couple of unlockables. There are also modifiers you can enable after completing a mission, which lets you run through the mission again with things like unlimited ammo, increased health, and so on, which would be neat if the stages themselves were any fun to begin with. I wish I could wholeheartedly suggest checking out G.I. Joe Operation Blackout, but I don’t think a solid roster of playable characters and an enjoyable story is enough to put up with the lackluster gameplay.

Mulaka

Again, if the rest of Mulaka were good, those are the sort of complaints you could overlook or even explain away. Instead, they add on to the frustration you’ll feel from the wonky combat, and take away from a game that, from an aesthetic perspective, might have otherwise had a lot going for it. It’s still great to have these kinds of stories told, but it’s hard not to wish that such a fresh and unique setting had a fresh and unique game to go with it.
