Unusual Findings is a charming and often hilarious sci-fi tale set during the 80s which oozes with a great retro-graphical style, good voice acting, and a fun story about teenage boys being, well, teenage boys - while also attempting to thwart an alien war. The point-and-click genre has seen a resurgence in recent years and Unusual Findings is certainly a worthwhile successor to the games it pays homage to.

Estamos ante una soberbia oda a los 80, la amistad, las pelis de ciencia ficción con las crecimos y la historia de la aventura gráfica. Guión magnífico que nos tendrá pegados a nuestras pantallas, personajes estupendos, buenísimos diálogos y muchos, variados y satisfactorios puzles son algunas de sus incontables bondades. Su recreación de los 80 es una soberana delicia, y su puesta en escena audiovisual es simplemente arrolladora. Tiene decisiones que afectan a la trama y los puzles a resolver, lo que da rejugabilidad a una duración de entre 10-12 horas. Solo algunos problemillas en la implementación del interfaz la alejan de la perfección rotunda. Además, cuenta con textos en español (neutro). Para esta casa, la mejor aventura gráfica moderna, disponible en Pc y en todas las consolas actuales. Una de las grandes aventuras de nuestras vidas.

Unusual Findings is truly a special indie game, especially if you’re an 80’s kid like me. Playing this genuinely made me feel like I was back in my childhood era all over again. It is a fantastic success story of a three-man team who have created a stunning package which has it all. The voice acting is absolutely superb across the board with interesting engagements with likeable characters.

Overall, Epic Llama Games’ Unusual Findings delivers a fantastic 80s based Point and Click nostalgic adventure. Between the crazy plot, the well written and even better voiced characters and a well designed interactive gameplay, whether you were there for the 80s or not, you should be there for this!

Sería una pena que este juego pasara desapercibido, la verdad. No solo porque se nota la ilusión puesta en el juego, también porque es una gran aventura, especialmente indicada para los que echan de menos un reto más old school. Divertida, larga, compleja, imperfecta pero valiente y ambiciosa. Que no os despiste su ambientación o exceso de referencias, Unusual Findings es otra gran aventura en uno de los mejores años que recuerdo para el género.

Unusual Findings is an amusing adventure full of quirky characters, interesting locations, and unexpected moments. The story might tread familiar ground, but it’s so charming and zany that it doesn’t really matter. The puzzles are fun and the characters are endearing. Plus, there are multiple endings and ways to overcome obstacles, so there’s quite a bit of replayability. However, I do fear that people’s enjoyment of it will largely depend on whether or not they grew up in that time period and are familiar with 80s references. For those of us who did grow up during that time, know that Unusual Findings was tailor-made for us. Don’t wait! Grab a Jolt Cola and lose yourself in Unusual Findings all night long.

Multitud de referencias, mucha rejugabilidad y tres historias posibles coronan el mejor point & click de los últimos años, superando incluso el regreso de un tal Guybrush.

Despite its flaws, Unusual Findings is a great point-and-click puzzle adventure game which acts as a love letter to the 1980s. Filled with retro pop culture references, cheesy dialogue and memorable characters, this is one that I certainly want to play again, especially with its complex puzzle solving which can differ in each playthrough depending on your choices.

The plot and characters feel like an amalgamation of popular movies such as E.T and the Goonies, while the game itself captures the spirit of classic LucasArts point-and-click adventures. The combination results in a lighthearted and nostalgic romp tinged with memories of a decade-long past. While I think Unusual Findings may not have the same impact on younger gamers, those with fond childhood memories of the awesome eighties will definitely have a blast with it.

The four-five hours of poor nostalgia will actually be much longer, if you can resist the urge to look up the solutions in some walkthrough. But that is the beauty of Unusual Findings: it treats you like a creative (young)adult that can figure out things on their own and does not need to be guided.

Ultimately, Stranger Thi-… Unusual Findings is a point and click adventure game that is mostly a hit than a miss. Yes, there are a few instances where the game proves to be a bit of an annoyance, but for the most part, it can be enjoyable. With a compelling story, a strong soundtrack, and good writing, Unusual Findings is definitely a game for people who enjoy point and click adventures in their true sense. The game is out on PlayStation 4 with a $19.99 asking price.

On average it will take you about six to seven hours to complete the story of Unusual Findings and this figure depends entirely on how quickly you solve the puzzles. But this is a nice length without the game becoming too repetitive. The story is light and entertaining and the game is full of jokes and references. For example, the game is full of pixel versions of posters of well-known franchises and the makers are smart about not naming these well-known films and series. The pixel art is of high quality and the soundtrack and voice acting are very well done. It is therefore a shame that the game has opted for a completely open world and the player can go wherever he wants. This adds a lot of unnecessary searching and wandering, while the rest of the game is so strong. The translation from the mouse to the controller could certainly have been better and all this unfortunately means that the game ends up in the middle bracket.

Unusual Findings is a brutal point & click adventure that pays homage to classic titles in the genre. The traditional puzzle-solving and lack of direction may turn off a lot of players, but those that stick wit hit will find a rewarding experience that uses more of your critical thinking than most games ever have.

Nonostante questo, gli esperti del genere non verranno mai messi in difficoltà da un gioco i cui enigmi ambientali sono fin troppo semplici e immediati da risolvere. Anche così, comunque, i costanti riferimenti agli anni Ottanta, la trama intrigante e una generale simpatia di fondo riescono a regalare una manciata di ore di gioco rilassato. 80s nostalgia and some vibes from other retro media can’t quite compensate for quirks and some odd puzzles

Unusual Findings is too obtuse and frustrating for its own good. Those issues prevent what could have been a really good and memorable game from achieving its full potential.

I’m sad to say that Unusual Findings was a somewhat disappointing experience. While it looks and sounds good, it doesn’t play as well as I wish it would. If you’re a fan of point-and-clicks and the 80s this should still be worth checking out, otherwise, I’d say skip it.

Unusual Findings is bursting with pop culture references, visuals and sounds from the 80’s. The adventures of Vinnie, Nick and Tony has obviously been inspired by Stranger Things and that works for it. While it’s enjoyable overall, it lacks direction and logical signposting in some areas which can make it tedious.

Unusual Findings is a good point and click adventure that will appeal to fans of the genre and nostalgia addicts alike. It doesn’t do anything to reinvent the wheel, though, and does suffer from the occasional moment of obscurity or needing to talk to every character again to discover a new line of dialogue. If the style and setting appeal, though, then there is a lot to love here, not least the pixel art and liberal use of pop classic ‘You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)’.

In conclusion, I had high hopes for this game and I was excited to play it.  The aesthetic and the story really intrigued me and I was so eager to discover the tale as I went along, and sadly, I didn’t get to experience much of it.  Unusual Findings has a promising premise but the movement and convoluted puzzles ruined it for me.  After spending an exasperating 6.5 hours with very little enjoyment, I will not be returning to finish it.   Maybe others with more understanding of the genre will enjoy this more than me and for them, I wish them the best. 

The voice acting in Unusual Findings is incredibly well done and by far the best part of the game
