I’m relatively new to the visual novel genre, only getting into it in the last year or two. Yet I thoroughly enjoy the novelty of being told a story with so much depth within a game. It still feels like such a treat. Evan’s Remains provides a real change of pace. A story not quite on the beaten track. The puzzles are presented in a unique style that combines to make an experience that lingers in your mind long after you finish playing. If you’ve never played a game from this genre before, Evan’s Remains is a great place to start.

Horizon is a fun little racer that doesn’t outstay its welcome. The simple driving and colourful presentation initially left me a little cold, but the more I played, the more I enjoyed it. I felt compelled to go for those first places and the quick loading times made it easy to pick up and play. I spent a long time considering all the parts of the game, and the amount of content on offer here and ultimately came away impressed. For those who haven’t been brought up with the arcades, this is a nice modern look at the simpler times and most people will find the right amount of enjoyment. Completionists will also love it because there’s a ton of content to get through. Go on and give it a look. However, don’t expect it to be the next Forza or Gran Turismo.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway is the latest addition to the Nickelodeon Kart Racers series. Even before logging in for the first time, I was excited to explore the maps and learn the fundamental mechanics of driving in the Nickelodeon universe that I had grown up watching. Needless to say, I was more than eager to give the game a shot. Did the game live up to my expectations? Find out in this Rapid Review.

Overall, I ended up having fun playing PopSlinger. There were a lot of flaws, but since I was mastering the levels to earn a high score anyways, I learned how to avoid the enemies by memory and adapted to overcome the lack of adequate telegraphs. Still, it was frustrating to need to skip so much dialogue every time I wanted to revisit a stage. Plus, the small field of view lost me several promising runs. Though I had fun, Popslinger is not a game I am itching to come back to.

I’m coming to the end of my word count for the review and I haven’t been able to touch on the incredible rock remixes of classical music. Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break is an excellent game. With its gameplay variety, genuinely funny humour and Monty Python-esque design, the game rocks!

Sky Racket is a real hidden gem. The combination of genres is seamless, the art style is great to look at and the soundtrack is incredible! If you’re looking for a real indie gem that unashamedly tries something new, then Sky Racket is a perfect choice.
