Evan's Remains sin duda es un juego que nos enseña a apreciar la vida, a vivir el momento, dándonos una dura y cruda lección sobre la misma. Un juego que aunque simple, acomoda desde el arte, la música y una historia para darnos 4 horas de una trama fabulosa.

With beautiful sprites, simple but charming artwork, emotional music, and a cast of memorable and well-written characters, this is the kind of video game experience that stays with the player years after the credits have rolled.

Evan's Remains es una maravillosa aventura narrativa cargada de sentimientos que nos va a llegar al corazón. Los puzles forman una parte muy importante en el juego y tienen una dificultad justa con el jugador. Su estructura puede llegar a hacerse repetitiva pero las ganas de ver como sigue la historia nos van a hacer continuar con muchas ganas.

Evan’s Remains fue hecho prácticamente todo por Matias Schmied, con algunas asistencias de sus amigos de Avix y el apoyo de la gente que financió el proyecto en Kicksarter. Un trabajo verdaderamente admirable de este chico que se lució en todas las artes entregando una obra pulida y bella por donde se la mire, de esas de las que seguro te llevás algo al terminar. Y de esas personas que se vuelven, al menos para mí, un modelo a seguir. 

I’m relatively new to the visual novel genre, only getting into it in the last year or two. Yet I thoroughly enjoy the novelty of being told a story with so much depth within a game. It still feels like such a treat. Evan’s Remains provides a real change of pace. A story not quite on the beaten track. The puzzles are presented in a unique style that combines to make an experience that lingers in your mind long after you finish playing. If you’ve never played a game from this genre before, Evan’s Remains is a great place to start.

Jugué Evan's Remains en PC y me llevó unas 3 horas. Sin dudas sorprende por ser el trabajo de un solo desarrollador argentino, pero mi recomendación no viene por ese lado. Los méritos de la experiencia están en el guion, el diseño de puzles y el apartado visual. Al final estamos ante una pequeña joyita que nos atrapa y se consigue a un precio amigable en todas sus plataformas.

While it comes in a small package the fun core gameplay and unexpected storytelling is worth anyone trying out, especially if you're into puzzle platformers. While Evan's Remains never gets truly difficult it still leaves the player wanting more past the credits.

Evan’s Remains is a laid back puzzle platformer, with an exceptionally enjoyable story to tell. The twists and turns in the tale had me hooked for the duration, and I never wanted to look away from the charming visuals. The puzzles never quite hit the highest level of challenge, but for a slow-paced and emotional afternoon of gaming there are few options more enthralling than Evan’s Remains.

Evan’s Remains se estrenará como un ejemplo más de lo bien que pueden salir las cosas cuando los creativos de diferentes partes del mundo tienen la oportunidad de plasmar su pasión por el gaming y su creatividad en un proyecto que llegue a todas las esquinas del mundo. Matías Schmied logró crear una experiencia que lleva con orgullo la herencia de joyas independientes como FEZ, Braid o Yume Nikki. Evan’s Remains tiene corazón, mucha identidad y calidad en su diseño, por lo que no me sorprenderá verlo en listas de títulos que pasaron por debajo del radar de muchos. Eso sí, espero que no suceda y que al final logre ser un éxito que tenga el reconocimiento que merece. ¿Está lejos de ser perfecto? Por lo que mencioné en la reseña debe quedar claro que sí, pero se trata de una experiencia que recomiendo sin problemas. Sólo ten en cuenta que su duración es corta, pero que me haya quedado con ganas de más sólo habla maravillas del resultado.

Evan’s Remains successfully achieves what it attempts: It delivers a compact story punctuated by neat puzzles. It switches between these central elements frequently, so no one idea overstays its welcome, but the concepts aren’t deep or compelling enough. A disappointing conclusion hurts the narrative, and a lack of evolution hurts puzzles; since the game is split distinctly into sections involving only those two things, even the best moments of Evan’s Remains carry a sense of unfulfilled potential.

Evan’s Remains es un juego interesante que sabe apostar por dos tipos de jugadores a la vez. Tanto si sois adictos a los retos de lógica, como si os gustan las novelas visuales, Evan’s Remains es capaz de contentaros a ambos. Y si ya os gustan las dos cosas tenéis un interesante juego para este verano. Lo malo es que no dura demasiadas horas y la rejugabilidad es escasa. Sin embargo por escasos 7€ puede ser un win win.

Una mezcla perfectamente hilada de puzles sencillos con plataformeo y con una historia entretenida, de gran misterio, quizá corta, pero igualmente profunda y con más de un as bajo la manga.

This is all topped off by some beautiful visuals. Pixel art is used to full effect with gorgeous, colourful scenery that is just begging you to stop and admire your surroundings. Combine that with an entertaining narrative and fun puzzling and you've got a title which pleases in all the right places.

While the overly convoluted plot devolves into a straight visual novel near the end, until then you’ll be drawn in by the intuitive gameplay, vibrant side-scrolling world and the intriguing mystery that make Evan’s Remains such a satisfying puzzle platformer.

En conclusión, Evan’s Remains es un videojuego con excelentes gráficos de píxeles y con una combinación muy buena de plataforma llena de puzles con una narración de novela visual, todo ello te invitará a sentarte, entretenerte y adentrarte en esta historia misteriosa y marcada por el diálogo de sus diferentes protagonistas. Aquí no nos encontraremos enemigos, ni errores, ni tendremos que empezar de nuevo, solamente disfruta, avanza y descubre todo lo que esconde este enigma.

Evan´s Remains se convierte en un entretenido juego de puzles, al mismo tiempo de poder disfrutar de una novela gráfica localizada en nuestro idioma. La peor parte se la puede llevar su duración que se nos termina haciendo escasa, pero durante ese tiempo lo vamos disfrutar. Además tiene un precio económico y como extra para aquellos cazadores de logros/trofeos no será muy complicado conseguirlos todos.

Evan’s Remains tells a story about life and death that doesn’t quite hit the mark. The monolith puzzles are enjoyable, but the narrative surrounding them doesn’t serve as a worthwhile reward for their completion. If you’re looking for a light puzzle-platformer with mostly attractive pixel art, Evan’s Remains might be worth considering. If you want a more thrilling or satisfying narrative experience, keep searching.

A fancy title must always be attached to a fancy game. Evan's Remains has a certain quality of intrigue to it that is evident from first glance. Gorgeous pixel detail, an isolated environment, and a keen focus on human psychology and heart. Suffering from some issues with landing the endpoint and gameplay prowess, it will inevitably be a selective title for many, notably those with the mindset that story always goes before gameplay. But for those looking for a thought-provoking, immersive game that costs less than a standard theater ticket, the search for Evan is definitely filling in those aspects.

Solo me queda concluir este análisis, resumiendo y dejando claro que Evan’s Remains no es un mal juego. Tiene mecánicas muy divertidas. Y una historia que personalmente me ha gustado conceptualmente, pese a su mala ejecución final. Pero también hay que dejar bastante claro, que ni esa parte jugable ni esa parte narrativa ligan entre ellas y, además, ambas se quedan en el camino de la notoriedad como ya os he podido contar.

Evan’s Remains is a “mystery-thriller” that, while pretty big on mystery, is shorter on thrills. If the story (and the way it’s set-up) connects with you, you’ll have much more enjoyment than I did. However, I don’t think this is a tale with a broad audience in mind. Joined by puzzles that look and play quite similarly, the impact lessens. But the great audio/visual package elevates this one to an okay experience for me. 

En muchas ocasiones es dificil aplicar el principio KISS precisamente cuando se hace más necesario. La negativa ante mantener la sencillez nos ha traído tanto juegos triple A que no saben cuándo cortar las misiones secundarias como triples I que fallan al alargar demasiado su premisa inicial. En juegos de poco presupuesto la sencillez está casi obligada y, sin embargo, Evan’s Remains nos recuerda que en cualquier momento la ambición —de mezclar sus referentes favoritos, en este caso— puede hacernos ciegos ante los puntos débiles de lo que queremos crear. Evan’s Remains sería mejor solo como juego de puzles pixelados. Quizás la historia de Dysis hubiera necesitado de un escritor más experimentado para hacerla brillar. Ambas partes del juego no suman ni se complementan sino que finalmente restan en una experiencia que debería haber sido menos en lugar de mucho más.
