9 Years of Shadows is a great example where it’s ok for a game to play off the same music sheet, so long as the band playing is skilled and brings a top-quality performance. I’m trying to say the game is great and well worth your time. Even if you are tired of adventure games, this may just renew your interest.

A Tiny Sticker Tale is one of the most adorable games I’ve played this year. The graphics are bold and colourful, removing and placing stickers is good fun, and the quests are satisfying. Designed to be a short adventure, A Tiny Sticker Tale packs a lot in and definitely a game to get stuck into!

Candle Knight is a solid game with some interesting ideas. This is definitely a title that fits into the category of a diamond with some rough edges. I liked how it tried changing the familiar adventure formula with its adaptive difficulty and balancing combat and exploration. This is helped further with good visuals and a soundtrack. The trouble is many of its elements feel a bit clunky, much like if you were wearing a suit of armour yourself. Combat is hard to grasp at times, particularly when blocking, and some of the platforming is a bit fiddly. But the game isn’t unplayable. Most players should easily see past these issues and enjoy a nice candlelight gaming night (actual candle optional when gaming). If you have room in your gaming schedule for another adventure, then Candle Knight may just be the light you are looking for.

Coloring Cats: Sports with Friends is the kind of game you can come back to for just a few minutes or get lost in for a cozy afternoon. It’s ideal for when you need something gentle, repetitive in the best way, and wonderfully low-stress. It has the Mens Sana Interactive signature characters and thoughtful additions like the playlist. You really get a lot for your money! Although the game does work on the Steam Deck, it is better played using a mouse. Or maybe, in future, on the Nintendo Switch?

I will admit Evil Wizard did not deliver the best first impression for me. The constant interruption of gameplay to tell some joke got old pretty quickly. I admit I can see a sizable audience loving this humour. When things focused on the gameplay, I was enjoying the flow of the experience. Combat is a fair challenge made more enjoyable by the game’s epic boss battles. It also changes the pace of playing an adventure game without a 2D platformer. It’s a solid experience that will keep you entertained throughout. Some may even call this the Evil Zelda game. Evil Wizard shows it’s good to be bad sometimes.

Gaucho and the Grassland is a refreshing idea, adding adventure and cultural history to a game genre that can always use more diversity. But as it pulls up towards release, it’s still in a bit of a rough state, with game-locking bugs and some confusion left as to how to accomplish some of your many goals. The developers appear consistently active at working on the game, posting fairly frequent updates about what they’re working on. They’re not very responsive to Steam users, preferring Discord, so bear that in mind.

Hidden in My Paradise adds something extra to the hidden object genre. Being able to move the objects around the scene to help find the items, re-creating snapshots and the ability to create your own levels makes for extended play.

Overall, Jumper Jon is a fun, frantic, and charming twist on the adventure genre. While it doesn’t revolutionize things, its unique time-based mechanic keeps things fresh and engaging. The adorable visuals, fast-paced movement, and upbeat atmosphere make for an enjoyable experience, even if the 30-second limit sometimes feels like both a blessing and a curse. It would have been great to see the game take even more risks with its central gimmick, particularly in boss fights. However, as it stands, Jumper Jon is still a solid, entertaining adventure that’s worth checking ou, especially for players who enjoy a bit of frantic, time-based challenge.

Lonesome Village is a sweet, wholesome adventure game; the standout feature for me was all the puzzles I enjoyed. The game took around 6-7 hours to complete, but I think that will depend on how quick you are at solving the puzzles. It is suitable for all ages to play, even though younger children might need help completing some puzzles.

LootLite is another example of a roguelike that’s perfectly fine and entertaining but doesn’t tread much ground from what’s come before. It’s an example of a coffee game except this one has roguelike sprinkles and a dash of vanilla syrup in its mixture. It will satisfy you for a short period of time in short gaming bursts but it probably won’t leave a lasting impression. Still, it’s rare to have a coffee game featuring co-op which is always a plus in my book. While I reviewed the PC version of this game I can see this being very appealing on Switch unless, of course, you are lucky enough to get your hand on a Steam deck.

Match Village is available for a nice price. It doesn’t offer a visually wowing experience, but it looks colourful and clean. Though placing the tiles is a strategic challenge, there is no deep puzzle gameplay mechanics to consider. Surprisingly, I found the gameplay very relaxing and rewarding. Just place the tiles in the best way you can and see how far you can progress. The sounds of plopping down a tile and getting new tiles as the structures combine are very satisfying. For this little game, made by a solo developer, the name Match Village is well chosen. Get to matching, and populate your islands in the process.

Overall I like Nova Lands a lot, it has fun and engaging gameplay mechanics, and the gameplay loop is addictive. It’s the kind of game you want to return to after playing for a while. I enjoyed exploring and setting up the production line on the islands and building my home; also, watching the bots run around doing their work is surprisingly relaxing.

Orange Season has a wide range of produce, some interesting livestock options, and different types of festivals to similar games in the genre. However, I was disappointed in the overall balance, with no long term plan to keep me playing. I really wanted to like the game and find out what was going on in Orange Town. However, once the coop is out of order, it is impossible to complete some of the tasks, and for that reason, I can’t recommend it.

Raccoo Venture is a good 3D platformer standing tall next to the games of the 90s it takes inspiration from. A channelling adventure with plenty of variety in gameplay that comes highly recommended to experienced platform players. However, its design may not suit the more casual crowd. Platforming and boss fights can be incredibly punishing in places far from the innocent graphical design it reflect. As for me, I welcomed the challenge, and despite my issues, I still enjoyed my time with the game. Another reason I liked it is the game made my son laugh hysterically. Something about the raccoon’s butt bounce had him in fits of giggles. Now, the game will be a cherished memory for me forever.

There is so much to Roots of Pacha, all packed into a gameplay time of around 40 hours. You can see the love the developers have put into the game as you play, and, amazingly, it was all developed by such a small team. If simulation, farming, crafting, and so much more are what you enjoy in a game, then Roots of Pacha is worth checking out.

Samurai Kento is an average but enjoyable action-adventure game. While its premise of an elder samurai protagonist is unique, the gameplay doesn’t introduce anything particularly new or groundbreaking. That being said, the game has a certain charm, and I found myself developing a soft spot for it despite its flaws. Perhaps this stems from an appreciation for the developer’s effort and passion, which is evident in the final product. It’s clear that Samurai Kento was crafted with care, even if it doesn’t always hit the mark. For its modest price, Samurai Kento is more than worth the cost of admission, especially if you’re looking for a simple, quick game to play over a weekend. Just be sure to temper your expectations and enjoy the ride for what it is: a short, straightforward adventure that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato is a warm and colorful adventure filled with wit and heart. Suppose you are in the mood for some lighthearted fun, with plenty of exploration, humor, and endearing stories. In that case, SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato might be the game for you.

I don’t love The Lullaby of Life, but I do like it, and I did get quite attached to Bombo while playing the game. I enjoyed the music and how the game looks. But at times, it certainly was not as relaxing as the blurb on the Steam page would lead you to believe. However, if you have high dexterity and are quick off the mark when pressing the right buttons to send out the soundwaves, then The Lullaby of Life might be for you.
