Raccoo Venture is a game that is full of nostalgia for 3D platformers on the N64. With fun characters and challenging puzzles to solve, this game will keep you entertained for hours.

Raccoo Venture is a good 3D platformer standing tall next to the games of the 90s it takes inspiration from. A channelling adventure with plenty of variety in gameplay that comes highly recommended to experienced platform players. However, its design may not suit the more casual crowd. Platforming and boss fights can be incredibly punishing in places far from the innocent graphical design it reflect. As for me, I welcomed the challenge, and despite my issues, I still enjoyed my time with the game. Another reason I liked it is the game made my son laugh hysterically. Something about the raccoon’s butt bounce had him in fits of giggles. Now, the game will be a cherished memory for me forever.

We have a lot of platform titles, even more so these days, yet Raccoo Venture manages to stand out with charisma and personality, to the point of being able to bring several references and maintain its uniqueness. Fans of the genre will be in for a pleasant surprise with this raccoon guardian made by Brazilian developer Diego Ras.

El diseño de niveles es bastante bueno y lo mejor es su calidad en cuanto a movimiento del personaje en los saltos plataformeros. En el combate esto se resiente un poco pero no es un gran problema. Sin embargo, parece que Raccoo Venture llega un poco a destiempo, técnicamente no parece un título de 2023, muy limitado en este aspecto, si no te importa que no luzca nextgen, Raccoo Venture es una gran plataforma que te transportará a la década dorada del género, los años 90. Sin duda, a los amantes de estos juegos les esperan unas buenas horas de entretenimiento.

Mesmo com cenários genéricos e comandos simples, Raccoo Venture tem muito do DNA crucial para um bom jogo de plataforma 3D, especialmente no design das fases, nos segredos, nas animações e músicas. O problema está na dificuldade que vai levar a repetições desnecessárias e frustrantes, podendo tornar o jogo um desafio mais de paciência que de plataforma. Mudar coisas simples, como as regras de contagem de vidas, tornaria a experiência muito mais prazerosa e acessível.

 It wouldn’t be so bad if your “butt stomp” was more effective, or a little more of an AoE attack, but paired with the camera at times it’s unnecessarily challenging to line up consistently, making for a distraction from enjoying the platforming action. If you’re willing to overlook the rest there’s quite a lot going on here that can be challenging and exciting, but it does manage to get in its own way more than I’d have liked.

The more you play, the more it feels like Raccoo Venture misses the mark just enough to make it feel like a bit of a letdown. It’s a solid game, but with a few tweaks it could’ve been a lot more.

Con un diseño de escenarios, puzles, secretos, animaciones y música, bien planteados. Pero sufriendo, por otro lado, de errores que creo que le tocan bastante la moral a cualquier jugador habitual del género, y plantea una fuerte barrera para el no tan avezado dentro de este tipo de universo. Siendo especialmente mejorable a nivel de control, de desafío, e incluso de repetitividad.

Overall, Raccoo Venture is a great introductory experience into the genre of 3rd action games, with memorable characters and a world map level select where you can freely walk around the map and get a general feel as to how these games play.

With that being said, Raccoo Venture isn’t a chore. It’s beautiful and the music is lovely. I loved the environment design and when you do find challenges, they are fun to tackle. I do think that Raccoo’s jumps get too tight later on, having the player jumping off specific angles to make jumps isn’t fun especially if they’re not part of the beaten path. The game performs amazing on a wide variety of systems, too, and that’s impressive given it’s just one man making this game.

I’m conflicted about Raccoo Venture. On the one hand, it’s a very pleasant entry into an underserved genre, at least from a presentation standpoint, and it runs great across a wide variety of hardware, including the Steam Deck. There’s a huge variety of things to collect and unlock, and levels will no doubt require several playthroughs. On the other hand, I found it frustrating to play more often than not, in part because of this. Ultimately I found myself not enjoying it as much as I would have liked, but if you’re a fan of this type of platformer then it might be worth your time.

Raccoo Venture is highly inspired by the classic 3D platformers of yesteryear but does not implement enough unique ideas to stand out from the crowd. There are some fantastic environmental puzzles that are thoroughly fun to solve, but they are far too short. The uneven difficulty, annoying secondary character mechanics, and a few bugs ultimately dilute the experience.

The upbeat music, colorful levels, and cute characters can give players the wrong impression of what they're in for. The game contains a large number of areas, levels and items to collect and you will have to collect them all to unlock all the levels. Unfortunately there is a big but. The game quickly becomes frustratingly difficult and you regularly have to replay large parts of the levels to find all the collectibles. The game seems to focus on the target group that grew up with these Nintendo 64 and Playstation 1 platformers. Raccoo Venture is really not child's play and that is a missed opportunity.

Acaba siendo una medianía simpática pero ausente de ese brillo tan necesario en mecánicas y diversión para ser algo más que una curiosidad. Por otro lado contentará a aquellos que busquen nuevas propuestas retadoras el género retadoras, pero también juega en su contra por una excesiva exigencia que le impide ser un título a disfrutar por todos. Algo que por su aspecto daría pie a ello.

Me habría encantado haber disfrutado del tiempo que gasté en ello más de lo que hice, porque necesitamos buenos juegos de plataformas antiguos como los que había en la década de los 90, pero Raccoo Venture nunca lo consigue del todo. Dicho esto, Raccoo Venture podría ser para ti si eres un gran fan de los juegos de plataformas clásicas y, con un precio de unos 14€, no puedes fallar.

If you have the patience of a saint and some mean platforming skills, then Raccoo Venture may be for you. But if you question your ability in either of those areas, then we warn you: Raccoo Venture can feel like rooting around in the trash, and there’s an awful lot of sharp glass in there.

While I’d hesitate to recommend this to younger gamers, it’s competent and creative enough for long-time platforming fans to take a look. It may not have you jumping for joy, but it’ll certainly put a skip in your step.

The lure of hidden collectibles and environmental puzzles flickers brightly, but it’s often overshadowed by sloppy battles and an obnoxious aiming system that feels like a festering wart on an otherwise charming experience. Despite its flaws, Raccoo Venture is brimming with soul. Densely packed with things Diego Ras loves, playing it feels like getting to know him on a personal level.
