El juego es muy entretenido, con un arte visual (Pixel Art) muy llamativo y destacable por sus zonas muy bien hechas y adaptadas al gameplay. En síntesis, es un juego relativamente difícil, muy divertido, explorable y muy recomendable. Actualmente está a unos 20U$$ en la eShop, y es un precio que vale absolutamente la pena pagar.

Si te gustan los indies, y la personalidad de un juego que a partir de viejos clásicos logró hacer algo original, sí, no esperes más para comprarlo. Este beat’em up tiene la cualidad única de no sentirse repetitivo.

Neon City Riders is an absolute blast to play, especially if you’re a fan of retro-gaming and 80’s pop culture. Much like games from that time, it can be difficult with its fast pace and precise timing, but it’s punishingly fun. For gamers from that era, like myself, it’s one giant nostalgia bomb. Even if you’re a younger gamer, you can still get a kick out of its stylized look, absurd humor, and its chaotic and unapologetically tough gameplay. I’m thrilled to see games like this do justice to those from the past. Don’t pass up the chance to give Neon City Riders a test drive.

Un interesante juego de acción y aventuras en 2D con una cuidada estética pixel art, con un gran diseño de niveles y retos, pero que tiene una curva de dificultad demasiado pronunciada y la tendencia de hacer que el jugador vague sin rumbo demasiado a menudo.

Neon City Riders definitely scores points as a tough, uncompromising, pixel-art-based brawler. Unfortunately, as an open-world adventure, it’s simply too hollow and empty to satisfy players with a desire to explore every nook and cranny.

While it’s clear that Neon City Riders was made with love, from the attractive 16-bit graphics to the NPCs, the experience is disrupted by early-game limitations and uneven save points.

With all that said, Neon City Riders isn’t a bad game by any means. It is just severely hampered by some puzzling mechanics and design flaws. While the titular city itself may be oozing with personality and neon allure, wading through the game’s main quest feels far too cumbersome. It could, by all means, be a fun time for the ridiculously skilled or incredibly patient, but we can’t help but feel that a majority of gamers won’t put the time in to overcome the early-game difficulty curve.

As you can tell from my review, I was pretty disappointed by Neon City Riders, but I still enjoyed my time with the game. I’m easy to please, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna go easy in a review. It’s still worth playing, there’s fun to be had, the visuals and audio are enough to spice up your life, and of course superpowers are always great. But, here’s hoping with time we’ll see some updates and patches to resolve some of the more glaring issues and Mecha Studios will have me crawling back.
