The Signifier es un juego corto que puedes terminar en 6 horas aproximadamente, pero que valen totalmente la pena. La mezcla e inspiraciones que toma, te llevan por uno de los viajes más inusuales e interesantes que he probado. Me encantó como representa los planes mentales y te plantea varias cuestiones morales. Es sencillo de jugar, cuenta con una historia llamativa y enseña conceptos muy interesantes de psicología. Un gran trabajo por parte de los chilenos de Play Me Studio, con algo nuevo e interesante y pocos detalles a pulir.

Una aventura llena de misterios y que provoca un terror a un nivel diferente al que estamos acostumbrados dentro de la industria, aparte de ofrecer unos puzles de lo más variados.

The Signifier es una aventura sólida, en lo técnico, propuesta y ejecución. Es un trabajo con ambición y altas miras, una forma de combinar situaciones y hasta géneros, de manera lograda y eficaz. No seremos tan guapos como Leonado DiCaprio o Tom Cruise, pero vamos a navegar por lo onírico mucho más que ellos, hay un crimen que resolver. Y un planeta en constante avance también.

The Signifier es un viaje por la mente humana, descubriendo secretos, sueños y pesadillas que llevarán a nuestro personaje principal, un psicólogo experimentado y experto en tecnología, a descubrir sus misterios, descubrir capas de diálogo y sacar a la luz la verdad a través de un manejo sencillo del personaje, interfaz minimalista y gráficos poco resultones, pero ofrece una propuesta diferente y crea una atmósfera propia del cine negro, aplaudo la valentía de este tipo de producciones.

The Signifier is an intriguing adventure game/ walking simulator with a compelling story and unique design aspects. The presentation can be a bit janky, but the game has definitely stuck in my mind since finishing it.

Si te gusta el misterio y los mundos llenos de emoción te encantara este juego aun con sus pocas fallas.

Y es que The Sifnifier es un juego intrigante, inquietante, visualmente muy correcto, ambientalmente muy cuidado, y narrativamente muy bien recreado y escrito, que me ha sabido dar unas buenas horas de investigación de lo más particular y unos quebraderos de cabeza de esos que dan placer.

The Signifier es una aventura narrativa de investigación que incorpora elementos innovadores al permitirnos explorar el subconsciente de las personas. Como nuestras decisiones repercuten en el final, es interesante re jugarlo y explorar otras alternativas.

Realmente, todo lo dicho en la reseña hasta este momento podría haber sido directamente aplicado al The Signifier ogirinal, publicado en octubre de 2020. ¿En qué consiste, entonces, este Director’s Cut? Esta nueva versión supone por un lado una mejora técnica en términos de optimización, velocidad y rendimiento, pero también se amplía el contenido jugable, incluyendo más recuerdos, diálogos, decisiones e incluso tres nuevos finales a sumar a los que ya había en la edición original, multiplicando la rejugabilidad del título.

It’s clearly well thought out, but in execution The Signifer doesn’t quite match up to its intriguing concept and utterly convincing setting. The latter are so strong, though, that they keep you engaged even as you grapple with clunkier gameplay aspects and an abrupt ending. Ambitious, cerebral, worth investigating.

The Signifier es un título interesante con una historia que engancha y un estilo artístico que llama la atención desde el principio (en las fases de los recuerdos). Es cierto que presenta algunos fallos como las animaciones de algunos personajes o algunos segmentos del título donde se puede perder el interés, pero sin duda alguna es un juego que los aficionados de los walking simulator disfrutarán.

The signifier es un juego corto con gran puesta en la narrativa con una historia simple que se complementa de maravilla con su mecánica de investigación a través de los recuerdos y la belleza estética propuesta en el entorno surrealista.

The Signifier is almost an essential experience for anybody looking for a sophisticated and complex meditation on the effects of technological progress on the nature of humanity but as a game it doesn’t quite hang together. Even more frustrating is the fact that its short running time means that it ends just as it's starting to find its feet. As a result it’s a title that I am really glad that I have played but can’t fully commit to recommending it.

The Signifier is a sign of something great. Its story is intriguing and the way it conceptualises all its effort is wonderful. That being said, the general presentation lets it down somewhat and the short playtime left me wanting much more.

The Signifier is a really tough one to nail down. On one hand, it does have an interesting premise with some truly original ideas, but on the other, I found many of them to be a bit undercooked. The mysterious nature of the case was compelling and kept me intrigued along the way. However, it left many questions unanswered and ended with a weird and somewhat unsatisfying conclusion. I suppose if you’re a fan of walking sims and story-driven games, then perhaps give The Signifier a try. It’s certainly a unique experience with some interesting theoretical science behind it.

The Signifier osa moltissimo dal punto di vista dell'ispirazione estetica e concettuale, costruendo però un'esperienza che fin dai suoi primissimi istanti non è facilmente fruibile da tutti, con una ricercatezza, in alcuni frangenti, che rapisce e destabilizza al tempo stesso. Se siete in cerca di un'esperienza abbastanza rilassata, insomma, fareste bene a volgere lo sguardo verso altri prodotti.

The Signifier consta de cinco capítulos –es una experiencia corta, de entre 4 y 5 horas de duración–. La historia general es interesante, atrapante, pero no al punto de hacernos sentir que nunca vimos algo similar. Mismo ocurre con su jugabilidad, es interesante ver los cambios entre el consciente y el subconsciente, pero más allá de eso se siente un walking simulator más.

The inherent weirdness of exploring a person’s memories and an ever-evolving mystery help make up for some obtuse gameplay and a lack of proper resolution in The Signifier.

From the onset, The Signifier presents itself as something wholly different. Both the game and its central character have the lofty goal of interpreting dreams and memories in a visually interesting way. There are puzzles that utilize this concept well, and encounters that showcase just how daunting the creation of an AI dream-machine would be, but they are few and far between. The overall pacing and the moment-to-moment gameplay require far too much commitment for the average player. There's a great version of The Signifier out there, imagined deep in someone's dreams - but we'll just have to settle for the real thing.
