Saviorless trae el tópico de los buenos perfumes en botellas pequeñas. En unas pocas horas viviremos una aventura de plataformas y acción donde no tendremos claro cual será el rumbo de nuestra historia, mientras recorremos escenarios escabrosos y bellísimos, con un trabajo de diseño y animación 2D, además de musical y sonoro, en un juego que ofrece mucho en poco tiempo. Y pedirá más de nosotros si queremos completarlo y ser los dueños de nuestra historia.

Putting it all together, Saviorless has a generally fluid style of platforming that harkens back to earlier days, though thankfully for the most part feeling much more approachable and less cruel. A healthy mix of platforming action and puzzle solving is featured pretty well throughout, with periodic sections that also let you get out some frustrations with a bit more violent tendencies for the sake of variety. The animations on the whole are clean and fluid, and it’s great that the gameplay below those animations tends to hold up nicely as well. If you’re a fan of the classics like Prince of Persia and some others, this is a more modern descendant who does that style of play proud!

Empty Head Games did a fine job being able to deliver Saviorless with some interesting gameplay elements. They may not be revolutionary for the genre but do add some freshness to it. The protagonist not able to engage in combat and skillfully lure enemies to traps is a unique touch. It’s not an expensive game, so anyone who enjoys platformers can give Saviorless a try.

Saviorless is a dark fantasy action-platformer with hand-drawn art. It brings us the story of Antar, who goes on a journey to the Smiling Island in order to become a Savior… which ends up being not what he was initially expecting. The game’s focus is certainly on the platforming segments and on Artan’s quest since the Savior and combat are introduced late in the game for what can be roughly the last hour – of a 3-4 hours running time. This is why there’s not much enemy variety, which might rub some people the wrong way if going into this one expecting a game with a lot more combat. 

Saviorless is a daunting mystery that’s worth the cost of admission. The beautiful art style and grim fantasy tale is an enthralling, unique, and dark tale that draws you in. If you’re clumsy or not quick to grasp patterns you may get frustrated during particularly fun yet daunting boss battles, however the patterns are simple enough to fully understand after one or two attempts. Saviorless is a beautiful game that you’ll want to see through to the end to get the entire tale.

O jogo poderia ter mais opções como dificuldades, modo speedrunner, entre outras coisas, além disso, ele tem esse problema pra fazer 100% de ter que refazer o capítulo se perder a situação onde o pedaço de página aparece, poderia ter um sistema mais prático pra voltar quando e onde precisar (talvez não fizeram isso pra aumentar o tempo de gameplay).

Saviorless will definitely appeal to those who can look beyond the simpleness of gameplay in order to see what lies within its beating heart. That alone is reason to give this one a go, but the entire struggle that happened behind the scenes is an extra incentive to try it out as well. It’s an achievement and a marvel of perseverance that turned into an above average game against all odds. It’s short and to the point with a message to get across – it only depends on whether or not you’re there to listen to it. If this is a slice of what’s to come out of Cuba’s gaming scene, I can’t wait for the rest of the cake!

My question at the beginning of this review was rhetorical - Saviorless was always worth saving. Despite a relatively unexciting first half, there's a solid blend of platforming, action, and puzzles wrapped in a strikingly gorgeous presentation. If you can live with some of its vague storytelling and the weird way it handles collectibles, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Saviorless es un título que no esconde sus inspiraciones y que las aplica de forma excelente. Con unos escenarios espectaculares y evocadores, una historia presentada de forma atractiva y enigmática, y frecuentes sorpresas en su estructura jugable, se trata de un título modesto pero atractivo, de esos que puedes devorar en una tarde, pero que no saben a poco. Supone un debut más que interesante para sus creadores y ofrece una experiencia muy satisfactoria a quienes se animen a adentrarse en su mística narrativa.

Saviorless es un juego ambicioso, con una historia interesante y que se construye mejor de lo que pueda parecer, aunque el final nos deja algo confundidos. Su propuesta jugable no es novedosa ni es la mejor de su género, pero cumple con sus más y sus menos. Su apartado visual es muy interesante y sin duda uno de los elementos que nos invita a llegar al final.

A weird, beautifully rendered combination of Limbo and Super Mario Brothers, Saviorless is an interesting take on an action-platformer.

Saviorless is an enjoyable enough platformer with a premise that sets itself apart from the many other options available in the Switch eShop. There will certainly be a large player base who will miss the idea of combat, but for those looking for a more low-key experience, this will not only pass the time, but also leave them thinking long after completion. The perfect accompaniment as the nights draw in.
