Blue Fire is everything I didn’t know I wanted out of a 3D platformer. Instead of consisting of just platforming challenges, the combat kept me engaged. Secrets and collectibles aren’t there to block off parts of the map, but make exploring a joy due to how well they interact with Umbra’s abilities. 3D Mario feels good to play, but at the end of the day you are most likely still rescuing a princess and collecting meaningless stars. Blue Fire gives you a narrative thread but leaves it up to you to decide how you want to explore the Penumbra. This metroidvania-like approach really clicked for me and made this 3D platformer feel special, which few others have over the past decade. While performance on Switch is definitely not fantastic, with constant suffering through crashes, I still wanted to go back every time to discover what else was hidden in this world. I certainly cannot wait to see what these developers have in store next, because Blue Fire has definitely awoken a burning passion in me to see what lies ahead.

Nos ha gustado mucho nuestra experiencia con Blue Fire. Lo único que podemos reprocharle a ROBI Studios es la falta de ese elemento innovador capaz de crear un elemento único dentro del juego que lo diferencie del resto y lo haga especial. Sin embargo, eso no quita el hecho de que es un plataformas 3D redondo y muy disfrutable. De hecho, nos encanta como mezcla características de otros tantos juegos como Hollow Knight o Zelda y los aplica con brillantez a la precisión requerida en este género. Blue Fire entretiene, divierte y te desafía en cada momento y se convierte en un serio candidato a ser uno de los indies destacados de este año 2021.

Blue Fire es un juego notable que sabe combinar muy bien la acción y las plataformas para darnos bastantes horas de contenido y empaparnos de una ambientación que sabe atrapar. Bebe mucho de Zelda, Hollow Knight e incluso Dark Souls, aunque los diseños de sus jefes finales pecan de ser bastante simples, el juego de cámaras no siempre es fiable y los combates pueden dejarnos algo fríos. Sin ser perfecto, es una opción más que recomendable si os gusta este género. Podéis encontrarlo en la eShop por 17,99 € actualmente y necesitaréis un total de 3,4 GB de espacio para instalarlo.

 Blue Fire toma elementos de Hollow Knight y Legend of Zelda para desarrollar una jugabilidad frenética y divertida. Su planteamiento recuerda mucho a otros títulos pero lo hace de buenas maneras, sabiendo incorporar cada elemento adecuadamente para no crear sensación de copia y adquiriendo un estilo propio.

Sin reinventar la rueda, su mezcla de géneros funciona bastante bien, aunque las secciones plataformeras pueden ser algo frustrantes para muchos jugadores.

En definitiva un juego que carece de alguna profundidad en los movimientos, que se puede hacer corto pero que todo lo que construye y proyecta en sus intenciones está bien ejecutado. Que divierte, entretiene, satisface y es un poco una bocanada de aire fresco a un género falto de alternativas a las sagas e IP ya conocidas por todos. Sus 19,99 los vale sin dudar.

Blue Fire provides an impeccable platforming experience with the just right balance of abilities to master and challenges to test you, making its bleak and corrupted world a joy to explore. Its Zelda-like dungeon experiences may end a bit too soon before it begins relying on overly familiar backtracking, but it doesn’t dull the fun of dashing around obstacles and fighting enemies alike. And even when the pacing of its main path falters slightly, the irresistible lure of its inventive challenge rooms kept me coming back for more.

This is a fairly minor complaint though and one you’ll learn to live with in time. Awkward camera aside, Blue Fire is an excellent adventure game with just enough flavour pinched from a variety of games across a plethora of genres and platforms. It’s a wonder that it doesn’t feel derivative, and instead manages to stand apart as a joyous adventure through a dark yet well-designed world.
